Dolly, the pony was given as a wedding present in 1933 to Thomas Gowing and Eileen Mc Donald, by Eileen’s mother, Mary. This is a photo of them on their wedding day. She was used to deliver milk and many other tasks around the farm in Ballyduff. Each Sunday she transported the family to mass. The second photo is of Thomas Gowing and his daughter Julia in the cart with Dolly.(including the tail of Rex the dog) in the yard in Ballyduff in 1944. The Horseshoe is one of Dolly’s that survived on top of a pillar in the farmyard until 2012. Although heavily rusted, it came to life again once it was shotblasted and powder coated.
