At Fine Framers, we’re always looking for new initiatives and new methods to offer you the widest and best range of services of all framing experts – and we’re particularly proud of our latest one.
We’re delighted to introduce Hand Finished Framing, bringing you a limitless number of possibilities in how to best display your favourite photographs, paintings, or other items for framing.
Most framing is done using pre-prepared moulding, from which the frames are made. We, like all other framing experts, already stock a range of these moulds, and help the customer to choose the moulding which will best complement the project or art piece being framed.
But now we can do so much more too.
With Hand Finished Framing, we instead use ‘raw’ uncoloured moulding, and then hand paint this ‘raw’ moulding to create a unique colour combination and finish to best suit the particular framing job.
This means that the possibilities really are endless – because there are just so many colours out there that we can use!
Our managing director, Tom McDermott-Walshe, honed the Hand-Finished Framing technique when he was the only framing specialist from Ireland to attend a workshop given at Devon in the UK by master framer, Mark Lacey. Over the course of a number of days, Tom developed all the skills necessary to produce beautiful hand-finished frames for all applications, and he has been passing on those skills to the other members of our team since his return.
We have already created a broad range of bespoke framing options that you can choose from. We can also create a new and unique framing solution for your particular project too, based on the colours that will best complement your item.
A subtle mix of two colours to highlight the grain of the framing material is particularly popular, with such combinations coming together to create an almost antique effect that beautifies any painting or photograph.
