Medal Framing is one of our specialties at Fine Framers, but closely associated with it is framing coins for display.
The similarities between medals and coins mean we use the same techniques and materials, and deliver the same great results.
One customer recently saw that for himself after brining us a collection of souvenir coins. He was a space exploration enthusiast himself, and these coins commemorated NASA’s famous Apollo missions.
He had a full set of twelve coins and souvenir badge too, but could find no fitting way to display them properly, until he came to us.
We talked him through various options as regards display and the frame itself. We ended up deciding on a simple yet effective 4×3 grid for the coins themselves. Also agreed was an information panel for underneath, to explain the significance of each of the coins.
Other items for the display included that souvenir badge, a miniature replica of the plaque that the Apollo 11 crew left on the moon, and an explanatory note. We decided to house these along the bottom of the display.
Then came the production of the display itself. We precisely cut the required holes in a mountboard, and our framing expert Yvonne took charge of putting the display together properly. She used mounting materials that would not damage the coins or other objects, and we also used conservation grade glass, to protect the display for many years to come.
Our customer was delighted with the end result, and the framed display now hangs prominently in his home.
